Why core strength is crucial!!

1/ A strong core helps to protects your inner organs and central nervous system, which is an important part of staying healthy. As well as being the place that your organs and central nervous system do their work, your core is where your body’s largest, most important, veins and arteries are housed. Keeping strong core muscles will help ensure everything stays protected as you move through your day.

2/ It can reduce or eliminates back pain. Back pain can be a common side effect of a weak core. If your abdominals are weak, it can be because your back muscles are particularly strong. By increasing your core strength you'll help to balance the front and back of your body. Be aware if you are sitting at a desk all day, as not engaging your core can lead to compressed discs in the spine as well as rounded shoulders.

3/ Improves your balance, stability and posture. Your core stabilises your body, allowing you to move in any direction even on the most uneven of surfaces, or stand on the spot without losing your balance. So you can see how core strengthening can reduce your risk of falling. A strong core can also positively affect your posture and can help to prevent slouching. Even more important is that it reduces wear and tear on your spine and allows you to breathe fully.

So as you can see having a flatter stomach or well defined abs isn’t the only reason to get your torso in shape. Your core is about so much more than just your abdominal muscles, it aids movement and also houses your inner organs and central nervous system. No matter where motion starts it ripples up and down to your extremities, so weak or inflexible core muscles can have an effect on how well your arms and legs function. That's why at gaché's we focus on your core strength and stability to assist your long term health and fitness.
